Decolonize Abundance

When it came time to design a logo for Decolonize Abundance, Katherine had a picture in mind but needed an artist to help bring it to life. The general idea of the logo is to find abundance in nature that society deems as weeds. Dandelion and clover can be used as medicine and yet the majority of Americans spray them with poison. A scene of the “weeds” in front of a beautiful sun that nourishes us daily was the goal!

After asking for someone to give their time and art to the project on Katherine’s Facebook page, a childhood friend of Katherine’s stepped up to help. Ashley Hernandez of @orona_artwork lives in San Antonio, TX and offered to help design and paint a watercolor logo for Decolonize Abundance.

The outcome is simply beautiful and was more than any of us expected. We hope that this logo will become the basis for how we both support the project financially and remind our followers and friends of what this project means. Look for abundance in places that society deems worthless. Find joy in nature daily. Remember that in order for everyone to have access to these experiences, we have to focus on equity in our giving.
